Prominent European Diplomat Joins APCO Worldwide’s IAC

Washington (February 23, 2016) –  Frank Majoor, former permanent representative of the Netherlands to NATO and former permanent representative of the Netherlands to the United Nations, today joined APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council (IAC). An established diplomat, Majoor will guide APCO’s clients on international policy, security, economic and financial matters.

Majoor has more than 40 years of experience in foreign affairs. He previously served as secretary-general of the Netherland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was the Ministry’s ambassador-at-large from 1999 – 2000. Within the Ministry Majoor performed a variety of roles including director of the Security Policy Department.  Before that Majoor served as  first secretary (political matters) and minister plenipotentiary (economic and financial matters) at the Netherlands Mission to the United Nations in New York.

From 1997-1999 Majoor served as ambassador, permanent representative of the Netherlands to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Switzerland. He also served in the Netherlands embassies in Bonn, Germany and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Majoor holds a master’s degree in civil law from the University of Leiden and received his diplomatic training from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute for International relations in The Hague.

  • Eduardo Aguirre, former U.S. ambassador to Spain and Andorra
  • Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, former member of the European and Netherlands parliaments, former EU ambassador to Japan
  • Edit Herczog, former member of the European Parliament (MEP)
  • Aleksander Kwasniewski, former President of Poland
  • Sergio Marchi, former Canadian ambassador to the World Trade Organization and United Nations in Geneva
  • Klaus Naumann, former chairman of the NATO Military Committee; former chief of staff of the German armed forces
  • Richard N. Swett, former U.S. ambassador to Denmark; former U.S. congressman
  • Sir Graham Watson, former member of the European Parliament (MEP)
