Richard de Pencier
Richard de Pencier is an associate director at APCO Worldwide and is based in London where he is a member of the firm’s Strategy & Campaigns practice. He specializes in providing strategic guidance based on digital research, reputation management, organic and paid campaigning, corporate positioning and crisis communications and brings key experience within the technology, health care, media and energy sectors.
Mr. de Pencier enjoys advising corporate clients on complex policy issues, using data to provide evidenced engagement recommendations and messaging to achieve goals at the political level. This has been most successfully deployed across campaign verticals addressing competition policy, the regulation of tech, and corporate sustainability. In addition to his digital communications expertise, he has strong experience offering counsel across offline communications briefs, where data and sentiment analysis has informed media engagement and financial reporting.
Prior to joining APCO, Mr. de Pencier led digital communications strategy for a range of listed businesses, as well as private entities ranging in size from multinational to nonprofit. This included work advising INEOS Group’s corporate and ESG communications online, as well as supporting its investment in consumer businesses, education and charity. He also worked with high-profile sports teams including the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, OGC Nice and the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team, formerly Team Sky.
Mr. de Pencier holds a master’s degree in TV and film research and production and has experience working at the international television and media production company, Maverick TV, within its multiplatform and development departments. In 2022, Mr. de Pencier was named Digital Professional of the Year by the PRCA.
