de Pencier

Senior Associate Director

Richard de Pencier specializes in providing strategic guidance based on insight, reputation management, organic and paid campaigning, corporate positioning and crisis communications. He enjoys advising corporate clients on complex policy issues, using data to provide evidenced engagement recommendations and messaging to achieve goals at the political level. This has been most successfully deployed across the FMCG, technology and healthcare. In addition to his digital communications expertise, he has strong experience offering counsel across offline communications briefs, where research and sentiment analysis has informed media engagement and financial reporting. Richard is a senior associate director in APCO’s London office where he is a member of the firm’s Strategy & Campaigns practice.

Research is what I’m doing when I don’t know what I’m doing.

Prior to joining APCO, Richard led integrated communications for a range of listed businesses, private multinationals and nonprofits. This included work advising INEOS Group’s corporate and ESG communications online, as well as supporting its investment in consumer businesses, education and charity. He also worked with high-profile sports teams including the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, OGC Nice and the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team, formerly Team Sky.

Richard holds a master’s degree in TV and film research and production and has experience working at the international television and media production company, Maverick TV, within its multiplatform and development departments. In 2022, Richard was named Digital Professional of the Year by the PRCA.
