Last Saturday, the 68th Italian Government was sworn-in, making history as the first female Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni (leader of the right-wing party Brothers of Italy) will lead the way through an energy crisis, the next budget law and a complex international agenda. First Female Prime Minister
Giorgia Meloni will be the first female Prime Minister, however, 17 out f 24 Ministries will be headed by men. Meloni will also lead the first centre-right executive since 2011.
A Balanced Coalition
The distribution of appointed Ministries reflects the balance within the coalition, with 9 Ministries assigned to the Brothers of Italy, 4 to the League, 5 to Forza Italia. Some portfolios such as Health the Interior and Culture have been entrusted to technical figures.
Established New Portfolios
Compared to the previous government, this executive does not include a Ministry for Innovation. On the other hand, it established some new portfolios such as, Food Sovereignty, Enterprise and Made in Italy, the South and Sea Policies and Family, Natality and Equal Opportunities.
