APCO Worldwide Launches Partnership with Premier Global Philanthropic Community “Nexus”

July 6, 2022

London – 5 July 2022: In its latest move to strengthen its philanthropic practice, APCO Worldwide has partnered with NEXUS, the largest network of next-generation philanthropists from around the world, APCO CEO Brad Staples announced today.

NEXUS Director of Impact David Dietz will work from APCO’s London office and lead the effort to expand the NEXUS’s operations in Europe with support from APCO advisers.

“This partnership will allow APCO to further deploy our philanthropy practice globally and help NEXUS and its members expand their presence in Europe as well as their capacity to drive change on critically important issues,” Staples said.

Founded in 2011, NEXUS is a premier philanthropic global community with more than 6,000 members from 70 countries. The organization unites entrepreneurs, investors and philanthropists to help facilitate allyship and growth of the next generation of philanthropic leaders. NEXUS was co-founded by CEO Rachel Gerrol, who previously served as a special assistant to Ambassador Nancy Rubin, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations.

APCO is one of the first agencies to have a Sustainable Growth & Corporate Purpose practice, and this partnership with NEXUS is the latest in a long line of investments the firm has made to help clients develop and execute best-in-class philanthropic and corporate responsibility programs. In 2021, APCO launched APCO Impact—an advisory group within APCO that works with clients across business, government and philanthropy to become catalysts for progress. Denielle Sachs, who leads APCO Impact, brokered the partnership with NEXUS as part of a larger effort to broaden knowledge and networks in the philanthropy sector that will benefit clients.

“Philanthropy is a critical tool in our response to the most urgent threats to people and planet, and it can have a catalytic impact when deployed strategically and entrusted to the communities it seeks to serve. This partnership with NEXUS expands the reach of our two organizations, helping us see further, across and within sectors,” Sachs commented. “For APCO, this cooperation grants us access to some of the most fresh and innovative thinkers and donors in philanthropy today, which deepens our capacity to advise our clients on where this dynamic sector is headed.”

APCO has recently expanded its footprint in philanthropy—in 2021, it acquired the Global Philanthropy Group (GPG), a consulting firm helping individuals, foundations and corporations design and implement philanthropic strategies and programs. More recently, it has undertaken in-depth research on the role and future of corporate philanthropy, which has led to fresh insights about how business can better leverage giving for impact and ESG. Those findings will be unveiled in the summer of 2022.
