As a Senior Director in APCO’s Los Angeles office, Stephanie Green Benn specializes in strategic philanthropy and social impact for corporations, foundations and celebrities. She brings more than fifteen years of experience in developing and implementing global and local strategies to drive change on gender equality, housing, youth engagement, humanitarian aid, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, and other pressing social issues. Stephanie’s expertise includes co-creating innovative, community-based solutions, starting and managing private or public foundations, identifying and cultivating nonprofit grantees and engaging stakeholders including principals, executives, employees, activists and local actors.
Stephanie joined APCO in 2021, as part of APCO’s acquisition of Global Philanthropy Group, a consulting firm focused on creating bespoke philanthropy strategies for high-net-worth individuals, brands and celebrities including Facebook, Clinique, Gucci and more. Prior to Global Philanthropy Group, Stephanie worked on the Health Communications and Media Partnerships team at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, supporting private-public sector initiatives to combat HIV/AIDS with partners including MTV, Univision, the NBA, state and local health departments and more.
Stephanie holds both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Stanford University. She studied Human Biology with a focus on health in underserved communities for her undergraduate work and studied Sociology with a specialization in social movements and comparative politics for her graduate work. While at Stanford, she supported research on childhood obesity in immigrant families through the Stanford Prevention Research Center, a leading research center dedicated to the prevention of chronic disease, worked at the Center for Relationship Abuse Awareness to combat sexual assault on college campuses, and studied international education as part of the Bing Overseas Studies Program in Thailand.
