For more than 20 years, Caroline Wolter Starke has helped organizations and individuals to build and preserve reputation in the midst of dramatic change. She has led high-stakes assignments for Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies including repositioning a global payments company amid leadership change and public scrutiny, building the reputation for a major health insurer, restoring an airline’s reputation following bankruptcy, rebuilding trust in a financial institution following the mortgage crisis and launching a disruptive financial services startup. She has repositioned corporate brands in a variety of sectors to modernize and seize market opportunity in a complex and changing stakeholder environment, supported organizations through leadership change, spinoff or restructuring and architected meaningful and impactful reputation building campaigns.
As a Senior Director in APCO’s New York office responsible for implementing the regional strategy and guiding the team and operations, Caroline is also Corporate Reputation Practice lead for North America. As a global client leader for some of APCO’s most significant client assignments, Caroline has orchestrated teams deployed on three continents, nurtured emerging talent and built trust with established leader and created agenda-setting moments with clients at global convenings including the World Economic Forum. Caroline is an enthusiastic media and presentation trainer for C-suite, corporate leaders, Olympic athletes, Miss USA, sales teams and more.
Prior to joining APCO, Caroline was vice president at Robinson Lerer Montgomery (now FGS Global), where she worked to both defend and build clients’ reputations in industries including consumer finance, health care, transportation, housing finance and more. Previously, she helped manage internal and external communication in the Americas for international investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Earlier in her career, she led consumer media campaigns at Edelman Worldwide, and both brand marketing and corporate media campaigns at Burson-Marsteller.
Caroline graduated from Tufts University and lives in Chappaqua, New York with her husband and son.
