Travel and Hospitality Industry Expert and Founder of Time & Place Rejoins APCO

January 9, 2019

Washington (September 7, 2016) – Mitch Willey, founder of Time & Place, and noted travel and hospitality industry expert, has rejoined APCO, this time as a member of its International Advisory Council (IAC) announced Margery Kraus, founder and executive chairman of APCO Worldwide.

“Mitch is a pioneer in the short-term rental space and a true global citizen,” Kraus said. “His knowledge and experience in the travel industry reaches far beyond the United States, extending into European and global markets. Mitch’s insights into the future of the industry will be of great value to our clients, and further strengthens our collective global expertise as a firm. Mitch helped us a great deal with our own global expansion in the past and we’re delighted to welcome Mitch back to APCO.”

In 2001, Willey combined his 20-year career in international law and his experience owning and managing multimillion dollar vacation properties to launch Time & Place, a luxury travel business that offers the amenities, convenience and security of a five-star hotel in the privacy of spectacular homes. Time & Place was one of the first companies to offer short-term luxury rental opportunities, coupled with concierge services, to travelers, making it a pioneer in a quickly growing segment of the travel industry that remains largely unregulated today.

“I’m very excited to be rejoining APCO and joining it’s International Advisory Council,” Willey said. “The firm’s strong commitment to reputation management and its history of impacting meaningful regulation set it apart in the marketplace. I look forward to using my experience and knowledge to help APCO’s clients and plan to be very active.

Before launching Time & Place in 2001, Willey was a senior counselor for APCO throughout the 1990s. Prior to joining APCO, Willey was the managing partner for a large, multinational law firm located in Washington, and served as chief international counsel and director of government affairs for Europe, Canada and the Americas for a $7 billion multinational company.

Willey holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and juris doctor and master’s of business administration degrees from the University of Virginia.

Willey joins a distinguished group of business leaders and experts on APCO’s IAC including:
