Videos: James McGregor on China’s 13th Five-Year Plan

January 10, 2019

This year China’s parliament ratified the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020) (FYP), the country’s highest-level policy planning document and the first developed under President Xi Jinping. The 13th FYP is a blueprint for China’s economic, political and social goals for the next five years, with the goal to push forward a growth model based on higher-value manufacturing and services, a consumption-oriented economy, a cleaner environment and inclusive development through improved healthcare and social security systems.

In these videos, James McGregor, chairman of APCO Worldwide in Greater China, and Lilian Rogers, associate consultant at APCO’s Beijing office, discuss what to watch for in China over the next five years and whether the 13th FYP encapsulates lofty dreams or realistic reforms for the country’s future.
