To continue to advance our offerings, APCO is proud to announce that Lee Tiedrich, a renowned expert in technology policy, innovation, risk management and AI has joined its International Advisory Council (IAC).

Lee Tiedrich, a global leader in AI and emerging technologies, brings extensive experience at the intersection of technology, business, law and policy, with a focus on innovation, risk management, governance and ethics. She has played a pivotal role in shaping global AI practices and polices. Including serving as a senior AI advisor for the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where she contributed to the development of frameworks for evaluating and managing the benefits and risks of advanced technologies. She also served as a senior advisor to the 2025 and 2026 International AI Safety Reports, led by Turning Award winner, Yoshua Bengio, and supported by more than 30 countries and multilateral organizations.

Lee’s expertise in AI governance and her ability to bridge the gap between technology, business, law and policy make her an invaluable addition to our International Advisory Council,” said Evan Kraus, president and managing director of operations of APCO. “Lee’s insights will help us guide our clients through the rapidly evolving landscape of AI and emerging technologies.”

Internationally, she consulted the OECD and co-authored the influential policy paper, “Intellectual Property Issues in Artificial Intelligence Trained on Scraped Data,” endorsed by over 40 countries in 2025. She has also held leadership positions in the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) expert group.

In the private sector, Tiedrich was a partner at Covington & Burling LLP, leading the law firm’s global AI Initiative. She is the founder of Tiedrich Global Strategies, LLC, and holds academic appointments as an AIM Initiative Fellow at the University of Maryland and at Duke University. Her unique combination of expertise in electrical engineering and law, along with her extensive publications and speaking engagements, highlights her multidisciplinary approach to advising on AI.
