Women's Leadership Reception

From Lonely Beginnings to Collective Power: The Rise of Women at Davos

January 29, 2026

When I first started attending the World Economic Forum in Davos over 25 years ago, women made up just 2% of the attendees, and it was a rather lonely experience. Most of themeetings for women were often scheduled at seven in the morning just to make space for the “real” meetings later in the day. That’s why, 11 years ago, APCO and two partnersdecided to do something to create a space for women leaders, allies and mentors to connect and uplift each other.

The tradition of the women leaders reception has become a highlight for many. An annual gathering where new friendships are forged and advice and wisdom is freely shared. We share scarves with attendees, and throughout the week, they stand as a vibrant symbol of our commitment to welcoming and uplifting one another. I can’t help but feel immense pride in how far we’ve come. Looking back at this year’s reception, the sea of welcoming faces, the energy in the room and the sense of camaraderie and collective goodwill, all indicate that women’s presence at Davos isn’t just growing—it’s thriving.

A Legacy of Change: Women’s Presence at Davos

At APCO, we are honored to champion this extraordinary community, advancing women’s leadership and mentorship at Davos and beyond. As the world’s largest majority women-owned public affairs and communications consultancy, APCO realizes that representation matters not just in numbers, but in visibility, voice and leadership. I am deeply grateful to the remarkable women of Davos who have made this journey possible, and equally appreciative of the men who return year after year to support us.

As of 2024, women comprise around 28% of Davos attendees—a dramatic leap that reflects years of persistent advocacy, community-building and the breaking down of barriers. Together, we celebrate our progress while embracing the responsibility to keep opening doors for those who come after us. Special thanks to our co-sponsors this year, The Adecco Group, Bayer, Pinterest and TOURISE, for their unwavering commitment to our shared mission. Here’s to the next chapter of women’s leadership at the World Economic Forum and to everyone committed to building a more inclusive future.
