As a Director in APCO’s Tokyo office, Yuko Kidoguchi brings over 25 years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, assuming diverse leadership roles in communications, public affairs, sustainability and market access. She specializes in policy shaping and advocacy, media relations, corporate communications and branding, as well as reputation and crisis management. Combining her expertise in communications and advocacy, she builds integrated strategies to communicate the value of innovations, facilitate access to solutions, address societal issues and shape a sustainable future.

Before joining APCO, Yuko served as vice president, Corporate Affairs at AstraZeneca Japan, overseeing communications, government affairs and policy and patient advocacy. She previously served as operating officer at Bayer Japan, holding leadership roles in communications, advocacy, sustainability, government relations and market access. She initiated a women’s health education program for adolescents to enhance their literacy on women’s health, offering classes to over 60,000 high school students in the past ten years. She previously chaired the Communications Committee of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations Japan. She also served as a board member of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group and vice chair of the Healthcare Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

Yuko has won multiple awards for women’s health advocacy in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights for youth in Japan, improving health initiatives for working women in Japan and government relations for women’s empowerment. Optimistic and passionate, she has a strong sense of possibilities. She is quick to spot opportunities, sees possibilities in most situations and strives to turn ideas into reality.
