Areas of Expertise:
Melissa Jun Rowley is an author, journalist, and global communications strategist working at the intersection of climate, technology, and social impact. She is currently pursuing a mid-career master’s degree in public administration at Harvard University, with a focus on leadership, governance, and policy.
From 2020 to 2025, she founded and led Warrior Love Productions, advising organizations on narrative positioning and stakeholder engagement. Her clients and collaborators included the World Bank, Lexus, Cisco, KPMG, Mastercard, William Morris Endeavor, and the UN Climate Change Global Innovation Hub, among others.
Building on this advisory work, Melissa most recently served as director of communications at the environmental nonprofit REVERB, where she led campaigns featuring top artists including Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Lorde, and more—mobilizing millions of fans to take action and advancing clean energy solutions across the live music industry.
Earlier in her career, she was a business and entertainment producer for CNN and Associated Press Television News, as well as a tech and business reporter for BBC News. She has reported from conflict zones and emerging markets and has immersed herself in startup ecosystems around the world—including Silicon Valley, LA, NYC, London, Paris, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, and Puerto Rico. Her writing has appeared in Reuters, The Guardian, Fast Company, TechCrunch, Forbes, National Geographic, and Rolling Stone.
Melissa is also the author of Beyond the Mic Drop: How Our Stories Shift Culture, Power & Policy (June 2026), which chronicles her journey from legacy media to documenting innovation and activism across continents. It spotlights how everyday storytellers can harness narrative to influence policy, spark movements, build legacies, and strengthen democracy.
Extending this work beyond media and advisory, Melissa founded Climate Mic Drop™, a cross-sector convening designed to strengthen messaging alignment across the climate movement, bringing together frontline leaders, Indigenous voices, and innovators to bridge silos and build collective momentum as a community.
Additionally, Melissa is a sought-after international speaker who has taken the stage at World Economic Forum activations, SXSW, Web Summit, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, and the United Nations General Assembly.
Previously, she co-founded the humanitarian tech platform The Toolbox with Peter Gabriel, supporting entrepreneurs in emerging markets with digital tools, storytelling, and sustainability guidance.
Melissa currently serves as an advisor to Women and Climate and Creatives for Climate.
Her honors include a Visionary Award from the Business Council for New Americans, Inc.’s “20 Women Entrepreneurs Worth Watching,” a United Nations Media for Social Impact Award, and recognition as one of BusinessCloud’s Top 100 Women Blazing a Trail in Tech.
