Before joining APCO, Mackenzie served as director of strategic communications at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, where she led national media and public relations efforts and oversaw the organization’s spokesperson program. She also directed editorial strategy for the Academy’s consumer and professional websites.
Her earlier roles in trade journalism, corporate internal communications and consulting for media, event, manufacturing and aerospace organizations have contributed to a broad, multi-sector foundation shaping her ability to translate complex subjects into clear, compelling messaging for diverse audiences.
Mackenzie also maintains strong ties to the U.S. startup, hard tech, and manufacturing communities in the Midwest, bringing an informed perspective on innovation, disruption, and emerging industries to her client work.
She holds a Master of Arts in English with a concentration in American literature, a Master of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies.
