Kate Zhao is a senior director at APCO and is based in New York, where she specializes in advising China-headquartered businesses as they expand their global footprint. With more than 15 years of experience in strategic communications and geopolitical advisory, Kate is a trusted counselor to C-suite executives navigating complex cross-border business challenges, reputational risk and US-China dynamics. She brings a robust track record in financial and corporate communications, stakeholder engagement and media relations, having led high-impact campaigns for Nasdaq- and Hong Kong-listed companies as well as Fortune 500 multinationals.

Before joining APCO, Kate directed public relations and crisis management at Moomoo Technologies, where she advised senior leadership on market expansion, geopolitical risk and regulatory challenges, achieving significant gains in earned media visibility across global financial press. She previously served as Executive Director at Fosun International, leading communications for major M&A transactions and market entry strategies in North America and Europe, and as a team leader at Burson-Marsteller, where she specialized in cross-border financial communications for multinational clients. Fluent in Mandarin and English, Kate is known for her deep networks and ability to bridge East and West. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from the City University of New York and a bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University.
