McGovern

Associate Director

Gavin McGovern is an Associate Director at APCO and a member of the firm’s Geocommerce practice. Based in New York, he advises global clients on public affairs strategy, international trade and investment and geopolitical risk. His work spans sectors including technology, retail and healthcare, and he supports APCO’s Center for Trade team on matters related to economic statecraft, foreign investment review and trade association engagement.

Prior to joining APCO, Gavin worked at Albright Stonebridge Group in Washington, D.C., where he advised companies on political and regulatory strategy across the Asia-Pacific region. He has supported clients in navigating complex policy environments, developing stakeholder engagement strategies, and evaluating market entry opportunities. Earlier in his career, he served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Indonesia and worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he contributed to legislative research and constituent communications.

Gavin holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bucknell University. He is proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and has written on trade and development topics for The Diplomat and APCO Forum.
