Cynthia Chen has over 30 years of experience in biomedical research and communications. She has led and supported multiple innovative external and internal communications programs on flagship brands and portfolios for market leaders, such as Abbvie, Novartis and Sanofi. She develops, drafts and evaluates scientific platforms, messages and content, and contributes to account direction, project management and performance reviews. Her extensive work on global and local communications campaigns draws on diverse experience and training from roles including postdoctoral research at centers of excellence such as Imperial College London and Case Western Reserve University, teaching at The Edinburgh Medical School and various functions in the biopharmaceutical and energy industries, charities and corporate banking.

Prior to joining APCO, Dr. Chen was executive director for Asia Pacific at GLOBALHealthPR. She continues to engage in bioethics research, public engagement with science, charities and efforts to raise scientific literacy.

Dr. Chen holds a doctorate in neuro-endocrinology from The University of Edinburgh; an Erasmus Mundus masters in bioethics from KU Leuven, Radboud University, and the University of Padua; an executive master of business administration from Quantic; a master of science in neuroscience from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London; and a bachelor of science honors degree in genetics from Cardiff University. She was also internationally certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
