Distinguished Diplomat; Senior Board Executive

With over 30 years of distinguished service, Ambassador Alfred Dube is a transformative leader in governance, diplomacy and sustainable development. A former career diplomat with more than 17 ambassadorial appointments, Alfred holds an exceptional track record of representing Botswana’s interests on the global stage. His career includes holding pivotal roles such as Minister Counsellor at Botswana’s Embassy to the European Communities, Ambassador to Sweden and other Nordic countries, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ambassador to China, where he was also accredited to North and South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. Additionally, he served as a Special Envoy on Conflict Diamonds to the United States and Europe.

Ambassador Dube’s legacy includes leading Botswana’s “Diamonds for Development” initiative, advancing ethical trade practices and driving sustainable economic growth. Beyond diplomacy, he has held various leadership roles in the private sector, notably as interim chairman of Absa Bank Botswana, where he guided the bank through critical transitions and chaired key committees on human resources, momination and remunerations. Known for his ability to foster international relations, enhance trade and drive economic development, Ambassador Dube continues to be a dedicated advocate for governance excellence and sustainable progress.

Alfred is currently serving as non-executive director, African Bush Camps; non-executive director; chairman HR & remunerations committee, IPRO Botswana Pty Ltd; and chairman of the board, Absa Life Botswana.
