Alec Verhaeren serves as a Project Consultant in APCO’s Brussels office, providing strategic advice to clients in the tech, trade, and logistics sectors. Within the Geo-commerce practice, he regularly advises businesses on the geopolitical dimension of EU trade policy, focusing on EU-US and EU-China relations. As a Belgian native, he also helps clients navigate through Belgian politics and its media landscape.
Alec actively monitors EU-US relations for a variety of clients, aiming to understand the geopolitical and long-term implications of changing trade policies. Additionally, he advises businesses on how to respond to these developments and identify opportunities within a regulatory landscape increasingly focused on strenghtening economic security and friend-shoring supply chains.
Alec holds a master’s degree in history and in international politics from the University of Leuven. He is fluent in Dutch, English, and French.
