Senior Associate Director, Equity & Justice

Tyler Blackburn is an award-winning DEI subject matter expert with more than a decade of experience crafting compelling content, plans and communications strategies that empower people to influence systemic change. As the deputy leader for APCO’s North America Equity & Justice Practice, he has led projects and workstreams for private companies that resulted positive change in internal stakeholders’ perception of DEI initiatives. A member of APCO’s Corporate Communications and Equity & Justice practices, Tyler brings extensive education communication experience to his role as a senior associate director based in Chicago. He has also served as co-chair for APCO’s Black African Ancestry Movement employee resource group (ERG) and is a member of the firm’s PROUD@APCO ERG.

Prior to APCO, Tyler worked in and around the Chicago public school system leading family and community communications and strategic planning.

Tyler holds a Master of Communications from Loyola University Chicago and holds as a certificate from Harvard University from their Promoting Racial Equity in the Workplace program. He has also received certification from the Intercultural Development Inventory organization for diversity-related work.
