Shannon Pesek is a senior associate director at APCO and is based in Chicago. She specializes in issues and crisis management, executive and internal communications, social media strategy and media relations. She is particularly passionate about issues surrounding social justice and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Prior to joining APCO, Ms. Pesek managed crisis communications and social media strategy for Northwestern University. At Northwestern, she led the messaging and executive communications strategy for the University’s commitments to social justice and DEI. She also helped establish the University’s first crisis communications team and oversaw the creation of the University’s updated emergency communications plan. Before pivoting to crisis and internal communications, Ms. Pesek managed social media for the University.
In her free time, Ms. Pesek sits on the associate board for the Chicago Public Library Foundation and is a member of the Chicago Foundation for Women Young Women’s Giving Council. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Miami University and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University.
