Sara Marcus is a director at APCO and is based in New York. She specializes in corporate strategy and social impact consulting and is a member of APCO Impact. At APCO, Ms. Marcus works with clients to shape their commitments to corporate purpose, ESG, sustainability, and equity and justice.
Ms. Marcus has devoted her career to helping companies define their strategy and implement transformational change. Prior to APCO, she served as the director of the Center for Open Hiring at Greyston Foundation, where she led the scaling of Greyston’s open hiring model among corporate partners to remove barriers to employment. In this role, she worked across retail, distribution, and manufacturing partners to roll out bold, transformative hiring processes designed to increase equity among frontline workers and reach the hardest-to-employ populations in their communities.
Ms. Marcus’s background is in management consulting and corporate strategy, with project work that includes new market entry, strategic planning, supply chain optimization, and post-merger integration. She began her career at Oliver Wyman, where she helped clients across the retail, consumer product, energy, and healthcare sectors to address their most complex strategic issues. She then worked in corporate strategy at WhiteWave Foods (now part of Danone), a leading better-for-you food company with a portfolio of natural and organic brands including Silk, Horizon, International Delight, and Earthbound Farm. At WhiteWave Ms. Marcus led strategic planning, white space prioritization, and cross-functional supply chain project work.
Ms. Marcus holds a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Dartmouth College.
