Rossella Carrara is deputy managing director for APCO Worldwide’s Rome office. She has 20 years of communication industry experience and specializes in health care.
Ms. Carrara has advised many multinational companies implementing integrated communication and public relations projects, with a focus on media relations, awareness campaigns, alliance building, issues and crisis management across different industries, including health care, shipping, transportation, food and technology, both at international and national levels.
Ms. Carrara previously served as senior director at Burson-Marsteller where she was head of the health care communication practice and head of the issue and crisis management practice for the agency in Italy. She also acted as deputy chair of the EMEA health care practice for five years and led the health care division since 2005. Ms. Carrara started at the firm in Milan in the corporate communications practice with a specific focus on consultancy, publications, sponsorships, events and corporate responsibility. Her health care experience includes product launches, awareness campaigns, alliance building, advisory board management and patient advocacy relations with leading pharmaceutical companies and trade associations such as Novartis, Sandoz, Covidien, Medtronic, Lilly and the Italian OTC Producers Association. Previously, she was a parliamentary assistant for the president of the Committee for Culture, Science and Education of the Italian Parliament.
Ms. Carrara holds a university degree in political science from Università La Sapienza of Rome and a Bachelor of Arts in international studies from The American University in Washington, D.C.
