Robert started his media career in the energy sector, first as a journalist and then as deputy editor at the Institute of Petroleum in London. In 1993 he left to help set up the energy desk at the then-nascent Bloomberg News operation in London. After assignments in London, Paris and Brussels, in 2005 Robert left Bloomberg to found MLex market insight, a global service providing insight, commentary and analysis on regulatory risk, with a focus on antitrust & merger control, energy & climate change, trade, financial services and data & privacy. As editor-in-chief and CEO, he expanded the business and established a presence in several high-profile jurisdictions including China, Hong Kong, The United States, Japan, Korea and Brazil.
After selling MLex to LexisNexis, Robert started working as a senior advisor in Brussels as a senior advisor, advising companies across sectors including energy, telecommunications, chemicals, food, transport and FMCG on public affairs and media engagement strategies at EU and UK level.
