Richard Harrington, Chairman, UK and member of APCO’s International Advisory Council, is a former Member of the UK Parliament from Watford, where he served from 2010-2019. In Parliament he served as UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from June 2017 to March 2019 and as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions.
Mr. Harrington also served on the International Development Select Committee, having travelled extensively in Africa and India, and was PM David Cameron’s Apprenticeship Adviser at No 10 Downing Street. He was also Minister for Refugees, Pensions Minister and Business Minister, where he was responsible for the Governments Industrial Strategy, which included the automotive, automobile, life sciences, creative industries, chemical, hospitality and professional service sectors.
Additionally, Mr. Harrington has spent 30 years of his life in business after graduating from Oxford University. His interests included being a director and part owner of businesses in the real estate, hotels, leisure and wealth management sectors.
