Project Consultant

Nonyelum Okonkwo utilises her skills to provide strategic insights for health clients. As a Project Consultant in APCO’s London office, Nonyelum works across various areas within health, including policy, public affairs, communications, media relations and litigation. Drawing on her Master in Pharmacy (MPharm) degree and her time working within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Nonyelum brings first-hand experience and a deep understanding of health science and the healthcare system to her team.

Nonyelum previously spent time at Hanover Communications in their Healthcare Policy, Advocacy and Public Affairs team, where she supported clients on government relations and campaign strategy. Notably, she helped plan and deliver a white paper launch event for the Infection Management Coalition in Parliament.

A passionate writer and communicator, Nonyelum has gained experience at The Guardian, The Observer, and the Pharmaceutical Press, where she contributed to the British National Formulary. Her bylines have also appeared in Chemist + Druggist, Healthcare Communication Matters and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association. In recognition of her work, she was named Student Journalist of the Year by the Medical Journalists’ Association in 2023.

Driven by a strong interest in global public health, Nonyelum is studying Chinese Mandarin at LSE’s Confucius Institute for Business London and is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Economics & Policy at Lancaster University. Her research focuses on China’s investment in healthcare infrastructure across Sub-Saharan Africa, as part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
