Moksha Watts has worked at the highest levels of government and the private sector as a strategic advisor on climate change, energy and mining policy, corporate sustainability and stakeholder engagement, with over 20 years’ experience in operating across Australia, New Zealand, India, South-East Asia and the Middle East.
As a strategic advisor with a global outlook, Moksha is passionate about making the energy transition more positive and orderly, by helping companies to distil disparate market forces and stakeholder expectations into actionable and practical roadmaps that grow and protect enterprise value.
Most recently, as Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister of Australia, Moksha worked to establish the Net Zero Economy Authority to coordinate and cut across governments, regional communities, workers and industries to unlock social and economic value in the energy transition.
Moksha has worked in and with companies to distill disparate market forces and stakeholder expectations into actionable and practical roadmaps that grow and protect enterprise value.
As Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Australia’s main airlines, Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia, Moksha led the development of their Net-Zero by 2050 roadmaps, bringing policy and implementation together to set corporate targets, underpinned by system-wide transformation programs.
As a Board Member of Airlines for Australia and New Zealand and the Sustainability Advisory Council of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Moksha also sponsored the Australasian airline industry’s net-zero roadmap.
Moksha has also advised CEOs and Prime Ministers on a range of issues, including corporate reputation and thought leadership, crisis and issues management, consumer and social media, internal communication strategies, government advocacy and legislative affairs.
Moksha is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney, as well as a Certificate in Sustainability and Circular Economy Strategies from Cambridge University’s Judge School of Business, and the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) Credential.
