Director

Mike Woods brings 20 years of experience in media planning, buying and paid media strategy to his role of Director in APCO’s Washington, D.C. office. He specializes in developing integrated campaigns that align digital, traditional and social media to maximize reach and impact. Mike has deep expertise across channels including print, TV, radio and out-of-home, helping clients connect with audiences through coordinated, data-driven strategies.

There is always a way forward, it just takes the right perspective to find it.

Before joining APCO, Mike served as integrated media director at a4 Media in Washington, D.C., where he led media buying and planning across traditional and digital channels for a diverse client base. He oversaw campaigns that spanned local, regional, national and international markets, giving him a deep understanding of how to scale strategies to meet different audience needs and business goals.

Earlier, Mike was associate media director at ICON International (a former Omnicom Company) in Stamford, Connecticut, where he managed buying teams supporting large national clients and developed innovative approaches to maximize cross-channel performance. These experiences strengthened his ability to design fully integrated campaigns, manage complex budgets and lead teams in delivering measurable impact—capabilities that inform and enhance his current work with APCO clients.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Southern Connecticut State University. His background blends business and technology, which enables him to approach paid media strategy with a strong analytical lens. Over the course of his career, he has built proficiency in media buying and planning systems such as SBMS Strata, Pathmatics and Nielsen Ad Intel, as well as emerging data driven digital, AI and social platforms. These technical skills, combined with his leadership experience, allow him to guide teams and clients through complex media landscapes with precision and impact.
