Melissa Petito specializes in building results-driven corporate communications, issues and crisis response, corporate responsibility, and stakeholder engagement campaigns for domestic and international clients across the food and beverage, consumer goods, financial services, and nonprofit industries. Melissa currently serves as a Director in APCO’s New York office.
Melissa manages the development and execution of award-winning corporate communications, thought leadership, and media relations programs. She works with some of the company’s largest clients to craft distinctive stories for both internal and external stakeholders, achieving exceptional results by increasing the visibility and reach of clients’ messaging to key audiences across traditional and social media channels.
Prior to joining APCO, Melissa worked for a communications firm in Washington, DC, where she provided strategic counsel, project management, and creative support to clients working to influence a range of policies in Congress and within the administration. Her clients included the Embassy of Colombia, Business Roundtable and the Council for Global Immigration. Melissa also interned for Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), former Representative John Carney (D-DE), and PwC’s public policy practice.
Melissa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Political Science from the University of Delaware. In her free time, she volunteers as an English-language facilitator with Literacy Partners in New York City.
