Maureen Dempsey is a senior director in APCO’s New York office. She assists APCO’s clients with the development and implementation of corporate communication, media relations and financial communication programs. She also manages crisis and litigation communication for strategic issues that threaten clients’ core business models.

Prior to joining APCO, Ms. Dempsey spent three years as a senior communication/media specialist with The Dreyfus Corporation, where she was responsible for internal and external communication, primarily media relations. She was responsible for frequent and substantial media placements in such publications as The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, BusinessWeek, Fortune and Forbes. Ms. Dempsey worked closely with the corporate affairs department of Mellon Financial Corporation, Dreyfus’ parent company, in such areas as investor relations and communication.

Prior to joining Dreyfus, she served as communication coordinator at The Bozell Group, a network of advertising agencies whose clients included The Milk Board, Datek and Bank of America. In addition to assisting with the marketing and communication programs for Bozell, Ms. Dempsey worked closely with clients to generate significant media exposure for advertising campaigns and was an integral part of the team that promoted the Milk Board’s award-winning “milk mustache” campaign.

Ms. Dempsey graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in public relations and political science.
