Mark is a San Francisco-based chief communications officer with deep experience in the healthcare industry. He has 25 years of experience leading public affairs, communications and community engagement strategies for health systems and purpose-driven organizations. He has a proven track record in brand building, thought leadership, corporate social responsibility and stakeholder engagement.
Mark is the principal and founder of Four Leaf Advisors, which partners with organizations to advise on strategic communications, public affairs, leadership and social impact.
Mark spent 21 years as senior vice president of public affairs and communications at CommonSpirit Health, one of the nation’s largest health systems, with $33 billion in revenue and 150,000 employees. He served as a strategic advisor to the CEO and board, oversaw all aspects of corporate communications and public affairs, and during his tenure, significantly increased consumer preference, employee engagement and investor confidence.
Earlier, Mark excelled as an executive at Fleishman Hillard, directed political campaigns and lobbied for the business community. His leadership extends to his roles as trustee of the Institute of Public Relations, a member of The Arthur Page Society and a former board member of the Public Affairs Council.
Mark co-executive produced The Antidote, a feature documentary that weaves stories of kindness, decency and the power of community in America, which Academy Award-nominee Kahane Cooperman and six-time Emmy winner John Hoffman directed.
Mark is an alumnus of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed a national fellowship in public affairs with the Coro Center for Civic Leadership and is a fellow and faculty member of the California Health Leadership College.
