Mariam
Malik

Associate Director, Health Care

Mariam Malik is an associate director at APCO and is based in Washington, D.C. She brings over ten years of experience in health care policy and strategic communications in to advise diverse pharmaceutical clients.

As an experienced marketer and creative thinker, Ms. Malik leverages her diverse experience in in corporate communications to write compelling stories that elevate brands for innovative health care solutions and write about issues at the forefront of health care policy debate.

Most recently, she was a senior federal consultant advising departmental leadership at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on building impactful brands, developing, and executing campaign strategies, and managing strategic communications and outreach for Veteran-centric programs. Prior to that, she advised the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s Office of Foods and Veterinary Medicine on complex stakeholder management and relations. She also served at the Foundation for the FDA and the National Academies as a communications specialist where she developed tailored strategic communications plans and provided guidance to team members on all aspects of visual design.

Ms. Malik holds a master’s in public health from the George Washington University, concentrating on global health communications. She received her honors bachelor’s degree in human genetics from the University of Nottingham, UK and her project management certification in 2020.
