Former President and Board Member, United Women Singapore

Georgette Tan’s career and experience span the public, private and people sectors in the Asia Pacific region.

Georgette currently serves on the boards of several non-profit organisations focused on women’s empowerment, gender equality and education. She is Board Member and Immediate Past President of United Women Singapore (UWS), a non profit organisation advocating women’s empowerment and building the pipeline of future female leaders.

She is Co-chair of BoardAgender, an initiative focused on increasing the number of women on boards in Singapore and also serves as a Board Member of SG Her Empowerment (SHE), an NGO that focuses on issues impacting the advancement of women and girls in Singapore and advocating policies that help women and girls optimise their family, career and personal lives.

Georgette is a board member at the Infant Jesus Sanctuary for Children ( IJSC) and is  Co-Chair for the School Advisory Council for Alexandra Primary School.

Before focusing on the non-profit sector, Georgette was senior vice president, communications at Mastercard, where for over 18 years, she was responsible for external and internal communications and launched Mastercard’s Knowledge Leadership strategy with the establishment of numerous consumer, lifestyle and gender indexes.  She also spearheaded Mastercard’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, which focused on education and development programs for women and children across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Mastercard, Georgette was vice president of communications at CNBC Asia and Dow Jones Asia and also held senior communications roles at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board.

Georgette also advises and mentors young female professionals as well as female entrepreneurs of start-up ventures and social enterprises in the region.
