
Gareth Tan is a Senior Associate Director at APCO’s Singapore office and leads its technology practice, while also playing a coordinating role on several regional technology accounts. Working with hyperscale cloud providers, social media giants, and disruptors in the AI space, Gareth brings to bear nearly a decade of experience with topics such as data governance, digital trade, and emergent technology to advise clients and plan campaigns. Alongside this, Gareth is Regional Lead for the Digital Prosperity for Asia Coalition, an alliance of digital small businesses seeking ways to navigate the Asia-Pacific region’s changing policy landscape. In these roles, Gareth has represented APCO and the DPA to government agencies across the region, and at major events and meetings hosted by organizations like the World Trade Organization and ASEAN Secretariat.
Prior to joining APCO, Gareth built his career in Singapore’s think-tanks, working at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and the Singapore Institute of International Affairs on regional and economic research. He then transitioned to focusing on technology policy at Access Partnership, where he advised clients in multinational organizations on policy formation and regulatory issues.
Gareth is also a respected thought leader on technology issues and has contributed to commentary sections in Singaporean and regional news outlets such as TODAY Online, The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia.
