Freda Zhang is an associate director in APCO Worldwide’s New York office and a member of the Geo-Commerce practice with a focus on China. Across four years working with APCO Shanghai’s government relations practice, she developed an incisive understanding of China’s political and business environment and integrated public affairs and strategic communications through support for multinational organizations across sectors including financial services, FMCG and cross-border investment promotion seeking to navigate geopolitical, political and regulatory issues.
Prior to joining APCO, Ms. Zhang worked at SLOMA & CO., a Shanghai-based law firm specializing in maritime law. She was a research analyst for the G20 Research Group at the University of Toronto, conducting research and analysis of global trade and investment.
Ms. Zhang holds a bachelor of arts (honors) from Trinity College at the University of Toronto, where she specialized in political science and international relations. Her studies focused on Sino-Canadian foreign and economic relations, public engagement and political psychology. She is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
