Zaidi

Associate Director

Elise Zaidi is a Washington-based health and science writer and public relations professional specializing in reproductive and maternal health. As an Associate Director in APCO’s Health Practice, Elise supports Fortune 500 healthcare companies, digital health startups, patient advocacy organizations, and professional medical associations in developing impactful external communications strategies. She leads and executes media relations efforts for a major medical device company—securing high-impact coverage through targeted pitches, proactive outreach and sustained journalist engagement. She also plays a pivotal role in developing cross-channel content and campaigns, including podcasts and multimedia storytelling tools that advance public health goals and deepen patient engagement.

Elise brings to APCO a track record of translating complex science and health data and analysis into accessible, actionable messages. Prior to joining APCO, she served as a communications and media associate at the National Academy of Sciences, where she led the outreach strategy for a global COVID-19 workshop attended by more than 15,000 participants. Elise is passionate about reproductive healthcare and joined EMILY’s List as an Ignite Change Fellow in 2024. Outside of APCO, she serves as a volunteer coordinator for the DMV Abortion Practical Support Network, connecting patients traveling for care with transportation, lodging and emotional support. She holds an additional role as DEI committee secretary for Women in Government Relations, leveraging her platform to promote inclusive, evidence-based advocacy.

Elise graduated Magna Cum Laude from The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, a concentration in Global Public Health, and a minor in Journalism. She also served as managing director of the university’s student newspaper, where she was awarded a Mark of Excellence Award by the Society of Professional Journalists. Elise is fluent in German. She is pursuing a part-time Master of Public Health (MPH) at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027.
