Dan
Meyers

Former Senior Director and Deputy Managing Director of APCO's Washington, D.C., Office

Dan Meyers began his career in the heart of American politics, serving as a domestic and international press advance representative for the White House under President George W. Bush. That early experience—traveling the world and coordinating high-stakes communications on behalf of the President—sparked a lifelong passion for public affairs, storytelling and the power of strategic influence.

Today, Dan is a well-respected public affairs and advocacy consultant, thought leader and a valued member of APCO’s International Advisory Council. He is known for his calm, confident leadership and sharp instincts in complex, high-pressure environments.

Previously, Dan held senior roles at APCO, serving as a senior director in the firm’s Washington-based public affairs practice and as deputy managing director of global headquarters and the Washington, D.C. office. With nearly two decades of experience in public affairs and crisis consulting, he has advised clients across an impressive range of industries—spanning trade and tariffs, health care, labor disputes, international M&A, entertainment, gaming, tech, transportation, energy and more.

Dan also spent nearly a decade at the DCI Group, a premier independent public affairs firm, where he rose to the role of vice president. There, he led complex, multi-level campaigns across the country, directing strategy, messaging, field operations, paid media, digital, compliance and stakeholder engagement.

Before fully entering consulting, Dan held several political roles: he was a special assistant to the political director at the Republican National Committee, later served as special assistant, personal aide and digital host for Rudy Giuliani’s 2008 presidential campaign  and as national deputy director of surrogates for John McCain. A proud Ohio native, Dan’s interest in public service started early—at just 17, he ran in a contested primary for Geauga County Commissioner, undeterred by the fact he wouldn’t be eligible to serve until his 18th birthday.

Dan’s insights have been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, POLITICO and PRWeek. He has also hosted and interviewed a wide range of high-profile thought leaders, including tech icon Kara Swisher, Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, Anita McBride, WSJ’s Meredith McGraw, NYT’s Carl Hulse, Punch Bowl’s Anna Palmer & Jake Sherman, Nicole Lapin, Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Capital University and an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He also completed executive education at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Dan has served on several nonprofit and civic boards, including the Junior Statesmen Foundation, Project Right Side and the Miss America Organization and Foundation. He brings both strategic clarity and heart to every endeavor—qualities that have made him a trusted advisor, respected voice and generous mentor across the field.
