Alexandra Bigland is senior director, global marketing & communication and deputy managing director of APCO Worldwide’s London office. Ms. Bigland has fifteen years of experience in marketing, corporate communications, stakeholder engagement and UK public affairs. She has led successful campaigns, both internationally and in the UK, across a range of sectors including real estate, transportation, education, energy, sustainable packaging and food.
Ms. Bigland was previously based in APCO’s New York office where she coordinated global business development opportunities. Prior to that, she worked as marketing and business development manager for Asia, based in APCO’s Hong Kong office, where she oversaw all marketing and business development activities in the Asia region.
Ms. Bigland previously spent four years working in local government for the City of Westminster in the centre of London, first as policy analyst to the leader of the council and then as head of the cabinet office, managing a team of 10 policy and administrative staff. Her duties at Westminster included running the council’s lobbying program as well as speechwriting for the leader of the council, research, policy development and management of stakeholder relations.
Ms. Bigland began her career as a political researcher for a member of the Shadow Cabinet in the UK Parliament. She worked on two Conservative Party leadership campaigns which included organizing youth support, event management and media interviews on national television on behalf of the candidate.
Ms. Bigland graduated from Cambridge University with a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English Literature.
