Project Consultant

Alana Cotter is a dynamic communications and public affairs professional with a proven track record in research, monitoring and analysis and delivering actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making. As a Project Consultant in APCO’s Chicago office, Alana also crafts storylines and messaging to support media relations and enhance reputations.

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

Prior to working with APCO, Alana provided volunteer PR work for a nonprofit that helps with disaster relief. This work included compiling media lists, revising the website, writing a press release and communicating with journalists. She also worked for Douglas J Salons, the Michigan Association of Beauty Professionals and MuMe, a small beauty company based out of Ireland, in various marketing focused roles.

In addition to her work experience, Alana graduated from Michigan State University’s James Madison college with a degree in International Relations and a minor in Business. This program was heavily focused on public policy. She also took seven years of Spanish courses and hopes to continue to learn and eventually be able to use it in a professional setting. She also would like to build on her educational background and gain more work experience specifically in international relations and public affairs.
