Yet Here I Am

We invite you to celebrate the launch of MSNBC anchor Jonathan Capehart’s new memoir, “Yet Here I Am,” with an engaging fireside chat moderated by APCO’s very own New York managing director, Brian Ellner.

“Yet Here I Am” takes us along Capehart’s journey, from his years at Carleton College, where he learns to embrace his identity as a gay, black man surrounded by a likeminded community; to his decision to come out to his family, risking rejection; and finally, his move to New York City and where he landed his first break in television news. Honest and endearing, Yet Here I Am is an inspirational memoir of identity, opportunity and purpose.

Capehart’s journey from his challenging boyhood to becoming a prominent face in cable news is a story of resilience, identity and self-discovery. In “Yet Here I Am,” Capehart shares his experiences growing up between New Jersey and North Carolina, navigating the complexities of race and identity and finding his voice as a gay Black man. His memoir is a testament to the power of embracing one’s true self and overcoming obstacles.
