Recognition is always meaningful, but the most valuable part of any award is what it represents.
Following the SABRE Awards gala, where APCO was named an Asia Agency of the Year by PRovoke Media, I found myself reflecting not on the trophy itself, but on what this moment says about our team, our profession and the region we are privileged to serve. As APCO was recognized for its work in Southeast Asia, it felt like an opportunity to take stock of how far we have come and, more importantly, where we are headed.
The communications and advisory landscape has changed dramatically in recent years. The questions keeping CEOs awake at night today are fundamentally different from those of even a decade ago.
Supply chains are no longer simply operational concerns. They are shaped by geopolitics, trade policy and national priorities. Digital infrastructure has become a matter of economic resilience and national security. Artificial intelligence is transforming industries, societies and governments at a pace that often outstrips the ability of institutions to adapt.
As a result, the role of strategic advisors has evolved alongside these changes.
Today, our work increasingly sits at the intersection of technology, industrial policy, economic competitiveness and soft power. Organizations are not simply looking for communications support. They are seeking insight into how global forces are reshaping markets, stakeholders and the environments in which they operate.
These shifts are especially visible in Southeast Asia.
A Region on the Rise
Southeast Asia has emerged as one of the most consequential regions in the world for growth, investment and leadership. Governments are pursuing ambitious digital transformation agendas. Businesses are rethinking supply chains and investment strategies. New technologies are creating opportunities for innovation while introducing new risks and policy considerations.
The region’s importance continues to grow as companies, investors and policymakers look for partners and markets capable of driving long-term economic growth.
For organizations operating in Southeast Asia, success increasingly depends on understanding not only local market dynamics, but also how broader geopolitical, technological and economic trends intersect across borders.
That complexity creates challenges, but it also creates significant opportunity.
Building for the Future
At APCO, we have spent the past year continuing to invest in our Southeast Asia team with a clear ambition: to build capabilities that match the scale of opportunity we see across the region.
What makes me most proud is not simply the work we have delivered, but the people behind it. Across our team, there is a shared belief in the future of Southeast Asia and in the role we can play in helping clients navigate change, manage risk and identify new opportunities for growth.
We have the privilege of working alongside organizations that are confronting some of the most important questions facing business and society today. Whether those conversations involve technology, investment, competitiveness, public policy or reputation, our team is helping clients navigate a world that is becoming more interconnected and more complex.
The award recognition is a reflection of that commitment and of the dedication, expertise and collaboration our colleagues bring to their work every day.
Looking Ahead
The pace of change is unlikely to slow. If anything, the forces reshaping the region and the global economy will become more pronounced in the years ahead.
That is precisely why this moment feels less like a culmination and more like a beginning.
Southeast Asia is entering an era of greater influence on the global stage, and the decisions made today will help shape the region’s future for years to come. We are fortunate to have a front-row seat to that transformation and an opportunity to contribute to it alongside our clients and partners.
The recognition from PRovoke is something we are proud to celebrate. But what excites me most is the work still ahead.
The future is bright.
