Sandra E. Taylor, member of APCO’s International Advisory Council, is the former senior vice president of corporate social responsibility for Starbucks Coffee Company and former vice president and director of public affairs for Eastman Kodak Company. She is currently the president and chief executive officer of Sustainable Business International LLC. She was selected as a First Movers Fellow of the Aspen Institute for her work to develop innovations in sustainable supply chains. In addition to her expertise in corporate responsibility, she brings to APCO a strong background in corporate governance, human rights, issues management, public policy and international trade.

While at Starbucks, from 2003 until 2008, Ms. Taylor led the strategic development and day-to-day direction of all corporate responsibility programs, including: community affairs; the Starbucks Foundation and support for disaster relief; development of responsible and sustainable standards for business practices and product procurement; management of programs to reduce the environmental impact of business operations; public policy and government relations; and the publication of the company’s award-winning corporate responsibility annual report. She also led social investment programs for education, health, income generation, skills training and access to water in Central America, India and Africa.

During her time at Kodak, from 1996 until 2003, Ms. Taylor was a corporate officer with overall responsibility for public affairs, international trade policy and corporate citizenship worldwide. Ms. Taylor provided leadership for the company’s federal, state local and international government relations, managed Kodak’s Washington, D.C., government affairs office, and established policy for government relations outside the United States.

Ms. Taylor’s government experience includes her work as a legislative assistant in the United States Senate and a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State. She is on the board of directors of Capella Education Company and nonprofits such as the Intiman Theatre of Seattle, Counterpart International and the Women’s Leadership Board of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is co-chair and founder of the American and African Businesswomen’s Alliance and a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy.
