Livia West is a senior director at APCO Worldwide and is based in Brussels. She specializes in competition/antitrust and co-leads the firm’s Competition practice globally.
Ms. West has worked for more than two decades at the intersections of government and business, and of the EU and the United States. She spent half of her multidisciplinary career as a competition enforcer, and the other half as strategic communications advisor and counsel to multinationals and governments. Prior to joining APCO, she founded and managed Brussels strategic communications consultancy The Vectory after advising in competition and tech for another Brussels consultancy.
Before consultancy, Ms. West spent six years as case handler and policy officer for the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition in Brussels and three years as assistant attorney general in the Antitrust Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General in Chicago. She started her career as a lawyer, spending eight years as legal counsel worldwide for The Nielsen Company, a leading big data, software and advisory multinational, after working as a private antitrust litigator for a large law firm in New York.
Ms. West is a U.S.-qualified lawyer, with a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University in Chicago and a master’s degree in EU law from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. Holding Romanian and American nationalities, she is native in English and Romanian and fluent in French.
