Mark Simpson is an experienced policy and strategic advisor.

Having worked at the highest level in British politics and at the heart of the European Institutions for over a decade, he brings a deep understanding and insight into current UK government thinking, with a special focus and expertise on international relations.

Prior to joining APCO as Director of Public Affairs, Simpson served for five years as the Head International Policy Advisor to now Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. In this role he led and coordinated the Labour Party’s entire foreign policy approach specialising on International Trade, Defence and Global Relations.

Simpson also led the Labour’s Party’s approach to UK-EU relations, during the complex and often turbulent period of the Brexit negotiations. This work saw him develop a deep understanding of the UK’s trade relationship with the EU and develop strong relations with many of the UK’s key global partners.

Before this Simpson worked for the Labour party as its Chief Policy Officer in the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg, helping him gain a valuable and unique expertise on the inner workings of the EU.
