APCO Announces Partnership with University of Florida to Grow Next Generation of Communicators

Partnership includes opportunities for APCO employees, mentorship for UF students

WASHINGTON, D.C. – APCO Worldwide, the world’s largest women and employee-owned communication consultancy, has formed a partnership with the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications, announced APCO’s founder and executive chairman, Margery Kraus.

The partnership will connect students in the University’s Master of Arts in Public Relations and Communication Management program with mentors, comprised of top APCO executives, who will help guide the next generation of communicators with cutting-edge strategies employed by APCO.

“The communications industry is changing every day, and the next generation of leaders needs to be ready to take on these incredibly complex challenges,” said Kraus. “We are proud to partner with the University of Florida to help guide and grow these leaders, and look forward to having our own staff have the opportunity to take part in this world-class program.”

In addition to mentorship opportunities available to University of Florida students, APCO employees will be eligible to receive a newly created scholarship that will allow them to attend the graduate program tuition-free.

The scholarship will be posthumously named after the late Washington, D.C. deputy managing director Alicia Peterson Clark.

“Alicia was an incredible mentor and example for everyone who came through our doors,” said Kraus. “This scholarship will continue her work and set an example for the next generation of communications leaders.

The University of Florida’s Master of Arts in Public Relations and Communication Management allows students to complete their graduate degree online over the course of a two-year period and is comprised of curriculum guided by an Advisory Council of top industry experts and is taught by industry professionals.

Mike Weigold, director of online graduate programs in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida said, “The partnership of our Public Relations specialization with APCO represents a remarkable innovation in education. Students in the program can anticipate the very best of the academic and professional public relations world. Great UF instructors will team with top APCO professionals to bring the world of modern public relations into every class. This unique program will set the standard for future graduate communication degrees.”
