Washington (December 7, 2016) – Courtney Prion, executive director and global lead of APCO Worldwide’s health care practice, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Group Hospitalization and Medical Services, Inc. (GHMSI).
GHMSI is the Washington, D.C. affiliate of CareFirst, Inc. and the BlueCross BlueShield plan that serves residents of Prince George’s and Montgomery counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia and portions of Northern Virginia. Piron will serve on the board’s Audit & Compliance and Mission Oversight Committees.

Piron joined APCO Worldwide in 2007, and leads the firm’s global health care practice, which helps clients navigate rapidly changing global and local health care landscapes, leverage the industry’s growth potential, and advance business and policy goals.
Piron has more than 20 years of experience in health policy, government relations and crisis communication. Prior to joining APCO, she served as a director in the economic & policy research group, a division of corporate affairs at Pfizer Inc., where she focused on health system reform, policy communication and regulatory policy issues.
