The United Nations Foundation's Shot@Life Campaign Wins PR News Digital Award for Best New Site
Washington, D.C. (October 2, 2012) – The United Nations Foundation was recognized this week as the winner of a PR News Digital PR Award for Best New Site for its Shot@Life campaign website designed by APCO Worldwide. APCO and Shot@Life have been partners on this innovative campaign to deliver global child vaccines since the campaign’s inception in 2011.
“Being named as the best new site by PR News validates the engagement we have seen on shotatlife.org. The website is at the heart of everything the Shot@Life campaign does and it provides our supporters with a place to take action and learn more,” said Devi Thomas, Director of the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign.
"We are thrilled to be recognized for our work with Shot@Life," said Margery Kraus, APCO founder and CEO. "We work hard to find new and innovative ways to leverage digital platforms to further client objectives, and we’re very proud of our successful efforts to engage real moms and others in the cause of global vaccines through the Shot@Life campaign website."
The website, www.ShotAtLife.org, serves as the central hub for the campaign's extensive outreach and online engagement with volunteer "champions" around the country, and makes donating time and money to global childhood vaccines easy and fun. Supporters can also engage in the efforts of the entire Shot@Life community through an active online and offline social network. Shot@Life's blog reflects the latest updates from Shot@Life partners, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF and GAVI Alliance, as well as contributions of Shot@Life champions who host birthday parties, walks, school lunches, advocacy visits to policymakers, and media outreach to support global childhood immunization.
In addition to being named an award winner for Best New Site, Shot@Life also received a PR News Digital Award Honorable Mention for Best Public Affairs Campaign. More information on the UN Foundation's campaigns and initiatives is available at: www.unfoundation.org.

About the Shot@Life Campaign
Shot@Life educates, connects and empowers Americans to champion vaccines as one of the most cost-effective ways to save the lives of children in developing countries. A national call to action for this global cause, the campaign rallies the American public, members of Congress, and civil society partners around the fact that together, we can save a child’s life every 20 seconds by expanding access to vaccines. By encouraging Americans to learn about, advocate for, and donate vaccines, the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign will decrease vaccine-preventable childhood deaths and give children a shot at a healthy life.
