Sacramento Office Expands with Two Key Hires
Sacramento, CA (January 16, 2007) ï¿½ APCO Worldwide announced today that Carla Hass, an experienced statewide campaign and crisis communication professional, and Emily Johnson, a former director of strategic outreach initiatives for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), joined APCOï¿½s Sacramento office.
ï¿½Carla joins as a vice president and will provide clients with expertise in strategic communication and media outreach,ï¿½ said Jose Hermocillo, managing director of APCOï¿½s Sacramento office. Hass previously ran her own firm, Hass Marketing Communications, and worked with APCO this fall on a successful statewide ballot initiative, serving as the primary press spokesperson. Previously, she served in several top-level state government communication positions during two administrations; before her public service, she worked for two respected public affairs firms. She has directed a number of high-profile communication efforts on natural disasters, terrorist activities, food contamination and environmental issues in California.
Johnson will provide clients with expertise in public policy advocacy. Prior to joining APCO, Johnson held various positions with PhRMA, most recently as director of Alliances, Affordability and Access. Johnson holds a masterï¿½s degree in public policy from Georgetown Universityï¿½s Public Policy Institute and graduated with highest honors from Rutgers College, where she received a bachelor of science.
