Women-Owned Business Certification

APCO Worldwide is one of the largest independently-owned communication consultancies with offices in major business and media capitals throughout the world. Since 1984, APCO’s transformation from one small office to a global organization has not changed the culture. This growth was accomplished organically, building each office by hand-picking the best people in each market without major acquisitions.

As a result of APCO’s independence, organic growth and dedication to entrepreneurship, today more than 56 percent of APCO is owned by women. On April 17, 2006, APCO filed its application with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) to begin the certification process as a women-owned enterprise. The initial review of our application was completed on June 6, 2006, and APCO received final confirmation of its status as a women-owned business in August 2006.

APCO achieved certification through the Women Presidents' Educational Organization, the regional partner of WBENC. Since its founding in 1997, WBENC has become the nation's leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations. Impacting industries, the work of WBENC drives the support of corporations and government agencies, expanding opportunities and eliminating barriers in the marketplace for women business owners.
