Robert Schooling

Robert Schooling, president, Americas & chair, global practices, is based in APCO Worldwide’s Washington, D.C., office. He brings to clients two decades of experience advising corporations, nongovernmental organizations and trade associations on communication strategies to optimize their businesses, reputations and public policy environment. Mr. Schooling specializes in helping clients find ways to reframe complex policy debates and build sustainable corporate and industry reputations.

Since joining APCO in 1995, Mr. Schooling has led communication campaigns on a number of significant corporate crises, public policy debates and corporate and industry reputation efforts. He has represented a wide range of companies and trade organizations in pharmaceuticals, insurance, travel and tourism, education, and manufacturing, and led positioning efforts for the largest companies and trade organizations in the world.

At APCO, Mr. Schooling led the creation of the firm’s proprietary Champion Brand methodology – a unique way of looking at brands that recognizes the role of technology and the emergence of new stakeholders that shape product, corporate and industry brand value.

Mr. Schooling has taught post-graduate coursework on crisis and issues management at Johns Hopkins University.
