Senior Director, Reputation Research

With more than 15 years of experience in developing reputation models across diverse industry sectors, Katie Sprehe provides strategic guidance and counsel for her corporate communication clients. She leads APCO’s proprietary reputation measurement practice: Reputation Insight, and oversees the day-to-day aspects of all of APCO’s corporate reputation and positioning research studies.

Reputation isn’t building a platform on what you are against, it’s about what you stand for.

While at APCO, Katie has managed numerous research projects for a variety of corporations, associations and organizations across industries. Some of her clients include a large health care company, Boeing, Caterpillar, eBay, Duke Energy, Siemens, The Nature Conservancy, Rio Tinto and Flex. She has become a thought leader in reputation management, risk mitigation, corporate advocacy and corporate purpose and was recognized by PR Week as a 2018 40 Under 40 honoree for her contributions to the industry’s understanding of corporate advocacy and corporate reputation. She is often cited in media outlets and has been quoted in a variety of publications, such as The New York Times, Variety, PRNews, PR Weekly and The Globe and Mail.

Further, leveraging her unique purview of what drives corporate reputation and business success, Katie led the development of APCO’s Agility Indicator: a quantitative tool that measures where an organization stands on its path to Agility and provides strategic guidance on how to more effectively reach business objectives and operate at peak performance.

Before joining APCO, Katie was a research associate for the Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project and prior to that, she worked at the IFES where she managed global public opinion surveys sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID).

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in international relations and a Master of Arts in Comparative Politics from the American University in Washington, D.C.
